About The Product
Save Now with the Tarkett Johnsonite Palous Falls Color Splash Stair Tread, a 48 inch raised round rubber tread in a standout orange finish. This is one of those pieces that doesn't just do its job - it brings color and energy to stairwells that usually go overlooked.
This stair tread measures a true 48 inches in length and 12.25 inches in width, offering reliable coverage for standard steps and minimizing the need for trimming on-site. The raised round (or circular) surface finish is more than just a style decision. Those domed patterns introduce real grip underfoot, particularly where foot traffic is heavy or likely to come in with wet shoes. The tread has a square profile, which aligns cleanly with stair edges, making installation straightforward and helping maintain a professional look. There's no compromise here: the square edge helps prevent trips by giving shoes a clear, predictable landing zone at every step.
The entire piece is made from resilient rubber, which has proven time and again to bounce back from shocks and heavy use. These aren't treads that flatten out after six months or send black streaks running up the riser if someone drags a heavy cart. And because these are produced in the United States, Tarkett is working within tight tolerances on color and fit, so what you order is exactly what arrives on-site - both in shade and size. The 5-year warranty is there for peace of mind, but in practical terms, this sort of material almost always outlasts project timelines and stays looking clean with basic upkeep.
For the installation, no adhesive is included, so the choice is left to the installer and the demands of the job - whether that's a pressure-sensitive, epoxy, or tape-down solution, it'll work with most commercial-grade adhesives. The square profile and defined dimensions also make these a fit for staggered or alternating tread patterns in educational or industrial builds, allowing for visual consistency without awkward seams or colour mismatches.
There's nothing ambiguous about the Color Splash model's statement. It's designed for spaces that need to comply with safety standards without defaulting to bland or institutional colors. If you're specifying for public access areas or want a visually-distinct tread that stands up to active abuse, it's worth noting how few options bring this much color at this price tier. The Palous Falls is consistent batch-to-batch, so ordering for phased projects won't saddle you with mismatched treads or fading awkwardly over time.
